Hiya,
So I've been researching printers for the past few months and have some suggestions to offer. If anyone has any better suggestions. Please let me know.
The Small Publisher's Co-op...unfortunately they're out of business which is too bad because we could have gotten .50 per copy for 500 copies (d**n).
For the comix industry there are a lot of print-on-demand printers like comixpress, createspace and kablam comics. These aren't suitable for doujinshi because they require strict copyright adherance and have a high overhead(2.61) per comic regardless of the number printed...It also means we have to pay $2.61for each issue we want to sell at the con...which means paying S400+ for 150 issues... not cost effective and we can't do it anyway because we're doing doujinshi...
If we get our page count high enough, between 64-200 pages, I would recommend we use dreamweaver press because at higher page counts the price is better and they print using sheet-fed presses which have a higher print quality than print on demand. paperback style books...and they don't have a problem doing fan manga.

The last option...which is cheapest and most annoying for me... is to have me print and bind them...I'm joining the Portland Small Publisher's Resource Center Next month... which will make the cost of the book between ,30 to .50 per issue for a 96 page anthology... This option would have a limt of 96 pages (but we could go as low as 20 pages for the anthology) and the binding would be saddle-stich(two staples). Covers would be line art on a colored sheet of paper for the comic...(The "Zine" look) while I like the way this would turn out, The deadline would still be the same because I'd have to spend my weekends folding and stapling comics...ack lots of work.
If you guys find any better options or have better ideas let me know.
